Meanwhile, Xiaomi has released its new MIUI 12 skin which is definitely a successor version of the MIUI 11 and brings so many new features with other system improvements and visual changes. So, both the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Note 8 Pro models have started receiving the latest MIUI 12 update in some of the regions periodically. Whereas the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 models are yet to receive the MIUI 12 stable update. Still, all these four models will stay on Android 10 basically. Meanwhile, according to some of the reports, the Redmi Note 7/7 Pro and Redmi Note 8/8 Pro models won’t get the Android 11 update officially from Xiaomi.
Therefore, plenty of aspirant Redmi Note 7 and Note 8 series users are getting disappointed and quite angry at the same time. While other smartphone OEMs are pushing two major Android OS updates to its devices, Xiaomi has decided not to provide another major Android OS update (Android 11) to its Redmi Note 7 and Note 8 lineup devices. Even recently, one of the Mi Community Moderator has mentioned that these models are unlikely to receive the official Android 11 update due to the lower hardware capacity. However, there is no official announcement made yet from Xiaomi. So, we can wait until we get to the conclusion.
